Quest Training – SOSSE

  • Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise Administrator(s) or super users
  • Students are strongly encouraged to complete this course prior to any other SOSSE classes

  • Mid-level Windows Administration and SQL Server Administration skills

The class leverages our state-of-the art virtual training center (VTC) that assigns each student their own:

  • Windows XP Machine
  • Windows 2003 Middleware server with a SQL Server Instance
  • Windows 2003 Production database server with a SQL Server Instance to monitor

By giving each student full control of their own “real world” environment, they can spend their class time “doing” instead of “watching” like is so often the case in training classes. In this course, students spend an average of 60% of their time in hands-on lab work with an expert instructor vs. lecture.

Upon completion of this training, the student should be able to:

  • Choose the proper architecture for their installation
  • Install and Configure SOSSE
  • Administrate SOSSE
  • Leverage and configure SOSSE Best Practices & Advisories
  • Identify problematic events in real-time or historically
  • Produce reports that are usable by security personnel, auditors, and administrators.
  • Configure and administer performance alarms
  • Understand the SOSSE Administration options and how to use them
  • Create and publish reports

This is a 9-hour class that includes lecture, lab and testing offered as a public or private web-based class taught via the Quest Virtual Training Center (VTC) for up to 8 students.
