This course was created for present and/or prospective administrators of the Foglight Performance Analysis for Oracle (FPAO) tool.
The course leverages Quest Software's advanced virtual training center (VTC). Every student enrolled in the course is assigned their own:
- Windows XP Machine
- Unix Production database server with Oracle 10G Database to monitor
- Unix Middleware server with Oracle 10G Database
With every student provided access to their individual “real world” training environment as seen in actual Quest software jobs, each is able to spend the majority of their class time “doing” as opposed to simply “watching” as they would in many other training programs. The students will spend around 60% of their time in this virtual training lab performing hands-on lab work with an experienced teacher instead of just listening to lectures.
This class is intended for FPAO administrators or super users who have mid-level Oracle and Unix skills. Quest recommends that this course be taken before other FPAO classes.
After they have finished this Quest software lab, the student should be able to:
- Select the correct architecture for the installation
- Size the middleware and long-term repository
- Complete the installation and configuration of FPAO
- Administrate FPAO
- Utilize FPAO advisories and best practices
- Identify problem queries in real-time or retroactively
- Understand the available Agent Administration and the best ways to utilize them
- Generate and publish custom reports
This is a twelve-hour course delivered in two six-hour sessions that include lab, lecture, and testing. It is offered as a private, internet-based class for up to ten students from a single organization, taught using the VTC.
