This class is intended for current and future administrators of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. This class uses Windows 2008 R2 64-bit for Active Directory and Exchange Server 2010 SP1 server.
- Audience:
- Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and/or Security Administrators responsible for administering Exchange Server 2010
- Active Directory, Exchange and/or Security Administrators who want to expand their knowledge of features
- Administrators, engineers and consultants of earlier versions of Windows Exchange Server
- Administrators, engineers and consultants of IBM Domino/Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, SendMail or other foreign email systems who need to transition to the Microsoft messaging infrastructure on Exchange 2010
- Prerequisites:
- Foundational understanding of client-server technology, networking and TCP/IP communications
- Foundational understanding Microsoft Outlook client software
- Knowledge and experience with Active Directory including DNS, WINS, DHCP and LDAP services
By utilizing our virtual training center for this Exchange Server 2010 training course, we can provide each student their own:
- Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller for their own fully operational domain
- Exchange Server 2010 SP1 server installed and running
- Windows system running Outlook 2010 for full Outlook and Outlook Web Apps (OWA) access
Each student will have the opportunity to control their own environment and experiment with the tool in a “real world” situation on their own live servers during Exchange Server training. By giving the student total access in a fully operational setting, they are able to learn by “doing” instead of just “watching”. They are also able to test out ideas and plans in a safe, production-class environment following the completion of the training modules and tests.
At the end of the training and testing, the student is encouraged with any free time they have to work within their own Exchange 2010 “sandbox” for any activities and/or testing desired.
After completing this class, the students should have the ability to:
- Gain an understanding of the foundational concepts around Exchange 2010 SP1
- Learn some of the new features of Exchange 2010 SP1
- Configure new Active Directory Organizational Units, Active Directory users, Exchange mailboxes
- Modify existing Active Directory users and Exchange mailboxes
- Create new Exchange mailboxes including User Mailboxes, Resource Mailboxes, and Archive Mailboxes
- Configure Exchange mailboxes including typical administration tasks
- Create Exchange distribution groups and mail contacts
- Setup Outlook 2010 Profile and Outlook Web Access 2010 Profile
- Complete a Final Lab including multiple components of the reviewed topic
